• How to Get Out of your Personal Comfort Zone

    February 13, 2009 // No Comments »

Did you know we all have a "personal comfort zone "?

According to Wikipedia, "Comfort Zone " is:

A limited set of behaviors and environments that a person can engage in without becoming anxious…

It is set of environments and behaviors with which one is comfortable, without creating a sense of risk .

One very critical act that every online entrepreneur must take is getting our of his or her "comfort zone ".

Being in your "comfort zone" entails your contentment with doing the things that you’ve always done before.  Instead of taking risks, those who hang out in the comfort zone tend to avoid risk.

Now of course taking risks is not just doing something completely wild.  Entrepreneurs who get out of their comfort zone take calculated risk.

Getting out of the comfort zone entails pushing aside any fear of failure or success that you might have and taking "out of the ordinary" action to achieve your goals.

How to Get Out of Your Personal Comfort Zone

The more you get out of your comfort zone, the more you realize that your uncomfortable zone becomes your comfort zone.  It’s all a matter of personal and business growth, and if you’ve been a reader of my blog for sometime, you know I equate to be one and the same. :-)

So how do you get out of your personal comfort zone?

Here are a few tips to help you:

    1) List a few things you want to do but haven’t gotten around to doing (this is the "I’ve been meaning to do list").

    2) Write down why you have not completed each task (often times this will either be a fear of the outcome or a fear of what others might think of you).

    3) Write down 1-3 action steps you can take to get past the fear.

    4) Ask yourself what’s the best thing that can happen if you do take action and accomplish that goal.

    5) Take small steps towards achieving that goal.

The key is to realize that although you might have a fear of something that does not mean you should let that fear rule you.  Take small action steps towards that goal and you will soon start to realize that it was a lot easier than you thought to get out of that personal comfort zone.

Leon Li has a great post on the dangers of staying in your comfort zone .  It’s a quick read and provides a cool analogy on the importance of always reaching to grow out of your zone.

    Something to think about:

What one thing have you been putting off this week or month?  Write the action plan according to the outline above and take small steps towards reaching that goal.

What have you done to get out of a comfortable situation? How did it help you grow?  Let us know!

    I appreciate you!

    Developing the Online Entrepreneur Mindset

    December 4, 2008 // 1 Comment »

While scouring the web today I came across a great post on the mindset of entrepreneurs by Tonya Pruitt .  As an online entrepreneur I completely resonated with the points Tonya makes about developing a successful entrepreneur mindset.

Having the Mindset of an entrepreneur is a radically different thought process, and it’s what separates successful entrepreneurs from those who aren’t so successful.

When making the transition from employee to entrepreneur many of us face several obstacles because we are so accustomed to thinking like an employee.

There are several "employee mindset" belief systems we carry over that help self-sabotage our online marketing success .  I have found at least 6 ways online entrepreneurs unconsciously self-sabotage their success.

Building upon the concept of the online entrepreneur mindset, the  attributes of successful online entrepreneurs are not instantly developed. Changing certain beliefs about yourself and getting into new habits takes time.  In fact, developing an entrepreneurial mindset is a PROCESS.

The inspiration I receive from blogging about entrepreneurship and mindset development comes from years of

    • personal growth and development (I have a few of my favorite resources listed under my Amazon favorites to the right)
    • attending dozens of live marketing and personal development seminars
    • purchasing several marketing courses, e-books, video tutorial etc.

It is BECAUSE of my EXPERIENCES, I’ve developed a strong success mindset.

As an online entrepreneur, you must continually seek ways to get out of your "comfort zone" and get past those mindset blocks in order to find your productivity groove.

Sometimes we don’t know what those blocks are until someone points them out.  The cool thing is that once you get your eyes on Mindset Marketing, you will know which mindset blocks might be affecting your productivity in your business.

it wasn’t until 4 or 5 months ago that I got past my a few big mindset blocks and started taking massive ction.

See, I used to suffer from analysis paralysis syndrome.  Maybe you’ve heard of that? lol

I studied the Internet marketing gurus’ marketing processes and web sites; I analyzed web copy, and learned list building strategies.  However, I was totally in the "Internet marketing information overload " phase.  I knew tons about online marketing, but I did nothing with that knowledge.

I did nothing because I believed I had to be perfect and know EVERYTHING about online marketing before building an online presence .  I felt I needed to be an omniscient guru before going for it.  Tons of Internet marketers get sucked into this mode.  You may be one of them.

    Talk about mindset self-sabotage!

Many of us have these mental blocks that keep us from being were we deserve to be.

It wasn’t until I uncovered 6 myths to online entrepreneurship that I started seeing significant gains in my online success.

Surprisingly enough before I became a blogger, I was more afraid of success than failure.

Once I stopped feeling that I had to be an omniscient guru before I took action and started shattering my limiting beliefs about entrepreneurship, I finally began getting into my "online productivity groove."

Mindset Marketing Officially launches on my birthday, Friday, December 12th (woot)!

Keep reading to stay in the loop (subscribe by email if you haven’t yet).  There are some RIDICULOUS cool bonuses that will help you develop that online entrepreneur mindset!

Your Partner in Online Marketing Success,
