Happy belated New Years to you!

I’ve been taken off course by some personal challenges, which I won’t bore you with… Just know that I am all good and well.  I am so ready for all the great things in store for 2009!

The last month or so I’ve been doing some refocusing on my priorities both personal and business.

    Since last month I’ve:

    • Launched my ebook, "Mindset Marketing "
    • Celebrated my Birthday
    • Enjoyed the Holidays with Family in NYC

Dali Burgado with Family in NYC

Here I am in the middle with my niece and sister.

    • Done quite a bit of local marketing and internet consulting (I actually helped a local fitness coach with a mini site and an information product that really turned out excellent for her, and made me feel good too)
    • Took an unintentional hiatus from blogging :-(
    • Went through withdrawal from not being online…

Wow was it a challenging month.

This month I am working on organizing and presenting a small business marketing seminar and adding content to my small business internet marketing consulting blog as well as creating a new information product.  More soon!

This Spring, I’ll be making Mindset Marketing a course.

Overall, this year I intend to have 4 niche blogs (one of which will be a more spiritual take on success to give you an idea of where I’m going ) and there is a possibility I’ll be moving from Virginia.

Tons of things in the works.  Simply reconnecting with you really quickly.

Hope 2009 is looking great for you!  Look forward to hearing how the year is progressing for you!

    More soon.

    I appreciate you.

    Mindset Marketing Ebook Launches

    December 16, 2008 // No Comments »

After 1 1/2 months of intense product creation, I’ve completed and launched my first information product (e-book) "Mindset Marketing : Learn to Finally Stop Self-Sabotaging Your Success and Gain Massive Momentum in Your Online Business" and released it on Friday, December 12, 2008.  (Friday was my birthday and I totally celebrated)!

Not only is Mindset Marketing a huge accomplishment for me just because it is my first information product.

It’s so big because four short months ago I was a virtual unknown online, and I was stuck in "Internet information overload " land.

Today, I have attracted significant success online despite being :

    • A newbie online marketer
    • A Mom of 2 children under the ages of 4
    • And quite frankly, a "technological dunce"

    I have - Since July of 2008:

    • Attracted a major Joint Venture Partnership (in the process of co-creating products with other more experienced online entrepreneurs)
    • Started my own Internet Consulting Business
    • Become a burgeoning Blogger, Social Media Strategist and Marketing Coach
    • Become a public speaker
    • Created my first Internet Marketing Information product (which some are calling a "Manifesto"!)
    • Created my first affiliate program
    • and more (and yes I faced MANY a challenges lol)

In November I decided to share exactly HOW I was able to achieve these things, and a month later, here’s Mindset Marketing .

I’ve been blessed to have received raving reviews about Mindset Marketing from dozens of online entrepreneurs who have purchased advanced copies as well as from my affiliate partners.

One of my favorites comes from a new friend I was introduced to on Twitter , Jonathan Gillardi .  Jonathan has been online for considerably longer than I have, and has this to say:

"I have been in and around this industry for a long while. And to read something this Dynamic and Full of Useful information , Yes I said Useful.  It was a breath of fresh air.

Most of the so-called Internet Attraction Marketing material coming out these days is just recycled from one to the next.

I am pleased to say I read the material in one 2 hour sitting and actually put my life on hold until I finished it, that is how much I got out of it.

I always LOOK to find something to learn from all material. But with your Mindset Marketing e-book I learned many many things, and I didn’t have to LOOK.

I can’t wait to be able to read the other multitude of testimonies you will be receiving and how your E-book has helped others in their business and lives.

If someone does not purchase your Mindset Marketing e-book, in my opinion they might as well never look at ever doing any business on the Internet period.

Jonathan’s words speaks volumes about the quality of the information here .  I poured my heart and soul into Mindset Marketing (very much like I do here on the blog - multiplied by a thousand).

Mindset Marketing particularly dispels 6 myths to online business success, and also addresses the importance of redefining success, discovering your passions and strengths, and taking massive action.

The 6 myths are really faulty beliefs we hold on to as a result of being accustomed to thinking like an employee instead of an entrepreneur .  Having any one trace of these 6 erroneous mindset/beliefs equals the recipe for online marketing self-sabotage.

So this means, you can purchase all the online marketing information you can get your hands on, but if your mind is not operating and thinking like an online entrepreneur, you’ll run into serious problems.  This is not to say you don’t need any marketing savvy.  Quite the contraire, my friends.

Mindset Marketing is a mix of super entrepreneurial mindset plus innovative marketing strategy that will allow ANY online entrepreneur to gain massive momentum in his or her own online business(es).

If you’ve been following me here on my blog, you’ll know that I take every experience and squeeze all the juice out of that experience to make it into a learning and growing lesson.  You’ll get a thousand times the value in my new e-book and will continue to get A+ content here on the blog for 2009.

Keep posted for some behind the scenes info on product launches…

I will most certainly have several blog posts dedicated to showing you just how simple it is to create your first information product - even with a million challenges coming at ya.

    Developing the Online Entrepreneur Mindset

    December 4, 2008 // 1 Comment »

While scouring the web today I came across a great post on the mindset of entrepreneurs by Tonya Pruitt .  As an online entrepreneur I completely resonated with the points Tonya makes about developing a successful entrepreneur mindset.

Having the Mindset of an entrepreneur is a radically different thought process, and it’s what separates successful entrepreneurs from those who aren’t so successful.

When making the transition from employee to entrepreneur many of us face several obstacles because we are so accustomed to thinking like an employee.

There are several "employee mindset" belief systems we carry over that help self-sabotage our online marketing success .  I have found at least 6 ways online entrepreneurs unconsciously self-sabotage their success.

Building upon the concept of the online entrepreneur mindset, the  attributes of successful online entrepreneurs are not instantly developed. Changing certain beliefs about yourself and getting into new habits takes time.  In fact, developing an entrepreneurial mindset is a PROCESS.

The inspiration I receive from blogging about entrepreneurship and mindset development comes from years of

    • personal growth and development (I have a few of my favorite resources listed under my Amazon favorites to the right)
    • attending dozens of live marketing and personal development seminars
    • purchasing several marketing courses, e-books, video tutorial etc.

It is BECAUSE of my EXPERIENCES, I’ve developed a strong success mindset.

As an online entrepreneur, you must continually seek ways to get out of your "comfort zone" and get past those mindset blocks in order to find your productivity groove.

Sometimes we don’t know what those blocks are until someone points them out.  The cool thing is that once you get your eyes on Mindset Marketing, you will know which mindset blocks might be affecting your productivity in your business.

it wasn’t until 4 or 5 months ago that I got past my a few big mindset blocks and started taking massive ction.

See, I used to suffer from analysis paralysis syndrome.  Maybe you’ve heard of that? lol

I studied the Internet marketing gurus’ marketing processes and web sites; I analyzed web copy, and learned list building strategies.  However, I was totally in the "Internet marketing information overload " phase.  I knew tons about online marketing, but I did nothing with that knowledge.

I did nothing because I believed I had to be perfect and know EVERYTHING about online marketing before building an online presence .  I felt I needed to be an omniscient guru before going for it.  Tons of Internet marketers get sucked into this mode.  You may be one of them.

    Talk about mindset self-sabotage!

Many of us have these mental blocks that keep us from being were we deserve to be.

It wasn’t until I uncovered 6 myths to online entrepreneurship that I started seeing significant gains in my online success.

Surprisingly enough before I became a blogger, I was more afraid of success than failure.

Once I stopped feeling that I had to be an omniscient guru before I took action and started shattering my limiting beliefs about entrepreneurship, I finally began getting into my "online productivity groove."

Mindset Marketing Officially launches on my birthday, Friday, December 12th (woot)!

Keep reading to stay in the loop (subscribe by email if you haven’t yet).  There are some RIDICULOUS cool bonuses that will help you develop that online entrepreneur mindset!

Permission Based Email Marketing Case Study

    November 29, 2008 // No Comments »

As the marketing fanatic that I am, I dissect blogs and websites on a daily basis and keep an eye on how I would improve upon them as a marketer.  Within the last few days I have been looking at permission based email marketing strategies to improve my own list-building efforts.

I thought I’d share some valuable insight on permission email marketing here and engage you in the conversation of email marketing best practices .

When I am scouring the web and stumble across good blogs and websites, I look at it from the perspective of a consumer who wants something special…something that is rare and unique…

If you’re familiar with Seth Godin, marketing guru, you’ll know that he’s passionate about teaching marketers how to transform their businesses by being remarkable.  If you’ve read his "Purple Cow " book you know what I mean.  Let’s see which of the following three email marketing strategies wins the "Purple Cow" award.

I’ve selected three examples from the web to dissect the verbiage.  Let’s see which optin form creates the most urge to subscribe in a reader.  Let’s get into the customers’ mindset here and get to dissecting…

    Example #1

The following example comes from a blog and was inline text (a form directly stationary on a site).

    Valuable FREE Information

Sign up for my Regular "Insights" and get over $100 in INSTANT Bonuses!

    Name

    Email

Your emails will NEVER be sold or used by anyone else.

In this example we have no idea what we are going to really get.  The First sentence "Valuable Free Information" does nothing to entice a person to optin.  There is neither any indication of perceived value here nor any indication of what types of emails the person opting in would receive.

Also, who cares about receiving "insights."  This is plain boring.  The $100 Instant Bonus sounds nice, but this verbiage is not compelling enough for me to opt in.

The "submit" field above "improve my results" sounds good, but what kind of results is this email marketer referring to?

The only good thing I see here is that the person mentions the subscribers email will never be sold or used by anyone else.

This optin email marketing strategy is a "no go."

    Example #2

Most people visiting Our Site join our Free ____Newsletter
    - I would like you to do so as well.

Every week get tips addressing important issues, such as:

    • A
    • B
    • C

Sign-up and start receiving your ____ Tips now!

      Name:

      Email:

This example was a "pop up" email and automatically turned on the "oh no" look on Dali (lol).  Just the subject line "I would like you to do so as well."  A prospect would not care about what the email marketer wants them to do unless the site owner established the value in the prospect taking action.

It would be much better to have a headline quickly peaking the subscriber’s interest and then establishing some value - explain why the person should opt in.  This email marketer could have done that in the bullet points, but unless the headline really appeals to the potential client, I don’t see anyone opting in here.

    How about you?

    Example #3

The following was also a pop up optin form:

"Email List Name" - A Different Kind of Email List

Get the email newsletter that isn’t an email newsletter. ______ is more like getting short emails from your friends .  2 or 3 times a week, I have cool links and short bits of behind-the-scenes advice on _________, _____________-, ____________. Basically, it’s great stuff you’ll never see on the blog.

Subscribe now and get a 38-minute audio download of _____________ !

And yes, I will sell you stuff from time to time (what did you think, LOL). If you’re not comfortable with that, don’t sign up.

    Sign up now:

    Email:

Your address will never be shared or sold. You will only see this message once.

Right from the beginning of this optin form the email marketer speaks directly to the prospect who is tired of the likes of the optin forms discussed above.  This person already says "hey there, this is ‘a different kind of email list."

This form also tells the subscriber exactly what they can anticipate.   The email marketer also mentions the information is "behind the scenes information" that cannot be accessed on the site.  This invokes a sense of loss and desire to get information that is scarce and "secret."  This pushes some buttons.

Additionally, there is a pretty cool free gift - an audio tutorial of "38 minutes."  This number "38" sparks curiosity and also is not the run of the mill free e-book or "free tips" free gift lure you normally see in op tin forms.

The email marketer even puts some personality and humor into the form by being straightforward that the person will receive sales offers from time to time "what did you think."

I actually opted into this email list right away.

This one definitely wins the "Purple Cow" award.  Whaddya say?

Any other pointers out there on optin/permission based email marketing?

Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

    Success Mapped Out from A-Z

    July 29, 2008 // No Comments »

I love marketing and studying others who are highly successful.

After all, if you’d like to be somewhere, you should seek how others got to where they desired to go in order to map your road-map to success.

As a member of Pat Mesiti’s Millionaire Mastermind Club, I received a shipment on Mal Emery - a book entitled: “Exposed: Zero to a Millionaire in Three Years or Less in Your Own Business and Still Enjoy the Journey Along the Way!”

Each chapter in this book is full of gold.

One thing that particularly struck me was that success not only takes effort but the “right kind of effort.”

Many entrepreneurs work so hard but focus on the wrong tasks.

So I asked myself, what does it take for an entrepreneur to become super focused on the right kinds of activities.

    So here we go…

    1) Discover Your Passion

    2) Map out an Action Plan

    3) Prioritize

    4) Leverage Your Marketing

    5) Work in 30 Day Increments

    6) Take Consistent Action

    Discovering Your Passion

If you are not passionate about your work then you might as well find something else to do.  When you are passionate about what you do you become a beacon of light that shines.  You attract others to you because you are passionate.

    Mapping out an Action Plan

One you know what you are passionate about, list ways you could market your product or service by offering value.  Then figure out what you are best at - what are your strongest skills?  Then match your marketing according to what you’re best at.

Make a list of the marketing avenues you will pursue (blogging, social networking, forums, ezine articles etc.)

    Prioritizing

This is a big one.  Most of us can do more with less time, but we don’t know how to prioritize in order to do so!  More on prioritizing on my Squidoo lens “time management for entrepreneurs“.

    Working in 30 Day Increments

Focus on one or two major areas you would like to sharpen your skills set in: i.e. writing or video and make a plan to work hard on it for the next 30 days.  If you focus to far on the horizon you start feeling like you don’t know where to begin, so focus on the short term goals because the short term goals will get you closer to your long term goals.

    Take Consistent Action

Do something every day to work on your 30 day game plan and get into the habit of taking action.  After all, taking action is the most critical step in growing into entrepreneurship.
